Antivirus Add-on for Smoothwall.

Hi,

I am using Smoothwall Express. Can anyone recommend an add-on for it that will allow me to scan internet traffic for a virus? ClamAV is on Smoothwall Express but it only works for POP i am afraid.

There's some instructions on installing Dansgaurdian at View forum - Dansguardian Web Content Filter (DGAV) • community.smoothwall.org and I think urlFilter may do it too - see URL filter add-on for IPCop and SmoothWall

FN: When you say "internet traffic", it is generally not possible to scan arbitrary internet traffic for viruses, but you can scan various protocols, eg. pop3, http.

 

I think what you are looking for is http virus scanning, as described by mr ric.

the dansguardian mod has virus scanning enabled (it uses the inbuilt clamav scanner) as default

 

I don't think urlfilter scans for viruses (it didn't last time i tried it, however i'm not sure if the later versions have it or not)

I have URL filter installed already I doesn't allow you to do that.

you may be able to bodge squid to talk to an icap server if you have one?

I had this problem and it turned out i needed to type

/var/smoothwall/mods/filtering/dgav/install.pl

to install it successfully

try redownloading the file as it sounds like either the file is corrupt or it hasn't been extracted properly.

 

You haven't forgotten the '-C /' bit on the end of the extraction command have you?

Ok i ran that command. It seems files have been extracted. I run the command for the install and it throws up the No such file or directory error.

Was about to suggest this. Everything works straight out of box (AV, DG, QoS, Vlans, IPS), no messing around like installing DG on SWE which is rather temprimental IME.

There's probably possibly a permissions problem, but you screenshot has cropped out the goodies :-D
