localzuk Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 So, who would we approach for a new .sch.uk domain name when we become an academy? As our school will be changing name, and we wouldn't be part of the Somerset LA any more, do we still go to the LA for it? Or, are we supposed to now treat ourselves as a non-profit charity and go with .org.uk or whatever?
localzuk Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 Lol, yeah, I know that bit. Was just hoping someone on here had gone through it. I've just spoken to them and they say that we simply need to send them our info on our letter head including our DFES number and what we want and they'll sort it for us. 1
GrumbleDook Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 For most things like that Nominet are really good ... shame they can't sort their act out about domains for clusters (another job to chase on Monday!) Just a quick note to remind people ... your .sch.uk domain is owned by the school, not the LA and not the RBC/ISP ... you can get Nominet to forcibly move the tags if needed. Also, the 'region' bit in schoolname.region.sch.uk is to do with geographical regions and not specifically because you are an LA school. Even the CTCs had schoolname.region.sch.uk in.
