HTML5 Webcam Recorder (cam-recorder.com)

 

Cam Recorder is a free online tool that allows you to record videos with your webcam. All you need is a web camera and an up-to-date web browser.

 

After recording, you can directly upload your video to YouTube or save it to disk.

 

Privacy Note: Recording happens completely locally. Your camera stream and your recording is not shared with anyone, unless you explicitly choose to upload it.

 

QR Code Scanner (the-qrcode-generator.com/scan)

 

If you use a modern web browser (recent versions of Firefox or Chrome) and have a webcam, this site allows you to scan QR Codes with your web browser. You can use this to send a link from a phone to your desktop browser for example.

I've started to make a few music projects in Bandlab.

It's a full-featured audio/midi workstation.

Stand-out features for me are the pattern-based drum machine, the fantastic effects (go beyond the presets), automation on both MIDI and audio and the overall ease of use.

 

It's an extraordinary web-app. If you have any interest in making music, you must try this.

Can the collective share any Play Store APPS that are good for education.

 

We just purchased a set of chromebooks and are looking for some maths / english game type APPS for primary pupils along with anything else you all find works well.

Any more web based video editing programs? WeVideo is excellent but a bit pricey. Is anyone using an alternative?

I've tried various grammar checking 'tools' and am not satisfied with any of them. Either they provide too many bogus suggestions, or try to make it seem like your writing is worse than it really is. I've been trying various editing services with the latest being a small outfit out of Canada, and they seem to be a lot better than the ones that charge more like scribbr which is in the netherlands. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Draw your attention to it, check it, yup, that's what I meant and move on.

Thanks - I've actually tried grammarly and found them to be ok, but even after submitting to their paid service it didn't improve my document much. I'm not concerned about plagiarism so I don't value that feature. I write a lot academically and unfortunately humans are still the way to go. The outfit I'm currently trying is editmypaper.ca but I'm really looking to cut costs and find something more automated. I'm also concerned that some of the free ones are storing/using my documents elsewhere. Language tool is interesting and I like it more than grammarly (also like how it's EU funded and open source, if you know what you're doing which I don't), but it still isn't great. I think IBM (Watson) or similar will come out with a better AI based checker. In the mean time I've also been using gmail.com by pasting in my text and it has a nifty click to correct type of checker. Thanks for your suggestions though.
