I thought i'd had setup the address book policies without any issues however it turns out staff cannot see the members of Distribution Lists when in OWA.

When a user selects a DL, they get a message that says "We Couldn't find anything to show here".

It would seem this happens when i force the Staff AddressBookPolicy to users. If i unassign the staff AddressBookPolicy users can see the members in the DL - the user has no policy assigned.

I thought having the Offline Global Address List in the AddressBookPolicy would make a difference however it doesn't.

Here is the powershell for our address book policies which someone might find useful - im sure i've missed something somewhere.

This is a royal pain with office 365. In on premise Exchange there is a command to update the lists automatically, but it isn't in Office 365. You need to modify the group for it to appear in new address lists.

So you could create a dummy account add it to a member of all your groups, sync with office 365 and then delete the account.

When you say "modify the group" how do you mean? I think the command you're referring to is "Update-Addresslist"

Here's what we are seeing:

Found this issue. It was regarding the Global Address Lists. Every guide online tells you to create your own GALs which i've done however this is what the issue is and the resolution for us it to assign the Default Global Address List to all Address Book Policies.

The GALs:

The Address book policy now changed for ABP-TEST:

The Non-Working ABP example which had ABP-STAFF and looking at the addressbookpolicy config in the above snip, you can the this has it's own GAL assigned to it.

The working ABP exampe which has the Default Global Address List assigned to the GAL:

Even MS couldn't help on this issue!!
