HP 2600N AND NOVA T

Recently connected a group of Admin machines to a networked HP 2600N and users get the following error when trying to print from Nova T.

 

"NOVA T caused a floating point exception error in a2600ip.dll at 0x06ada063."

 

I know it works when attached to non networked 2600. Other than setting up as a local printer and sharing with others, can anyone suggest a solution?

I'd guess that the 2600N uses HPs proprietary language simulation, meaning it won't play nice with ye olde NOVA that probably wants to use PCL5/5e/6 etc. It's the HP 2605 model that supports this, and unsurprisingly it costs a wedge more. I ran into a similar problem with the 3800 series and some piece of software (can't remember now as it was a while ago)...

Give this a try:

 

Use the Add Printer wizard to manually install the 2600 to the local machine you're trying to print from. Make sure 'automatically detect...' is unchecked. Use port LPT1. Use the 'have disk' button to grab the just the drivers (not all the software and other crap) from the CD and install them. Give this newly installed printer a name like Nova Printer or something.

 

You can then use NET USE LTP1 \\printserver\2600printername to have your Nova printer print to your 2600. Bang this in a batch file and copy it to the startup folder of your admin staff.
