ChrisH Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 When I install certain packages now I get couldn't parse /etc/addusers.conf this happens on just about every line of that file so 200,000 later it finally finishes and the package installs sucessfully. Apart from this mass of errors everything seems to be running fine. I have installed: Samba winbind kerberos dansguardian apache shorewall mysql php It doesnt seem to affect normal operation at all but some packages end up taking 15 minutes to install rather than a minute. The only thing configuration I did that could be related but probably not is I changed the group on /var/run/samba/winbindd_privileged so squid could use NTLM properly. Any ideas?
Geoff Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 Bizzare, did the web server fall through a timewarp? Anyway... Sounds like a problem with apt. What do the contents of addusers.conf look like? There's little mention of the file on the internet, I'm guessing its a debian specific thing?
ChrisH Posted November 18, 2005 Author Posted November 18, 2005 It seems to contain configuration for everything thats installed from Samba to phrase lists for Dansguardian. Looking at sections like the samba though they seem to be the default config that they were installled with I may try a rename and see what it does. If not I have a backup from last week.
