Guest Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Anyone ever used this for their school? Any comments? Cheers
Guest Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Well after a little play I have created an Edugeek Toolbar for myself It has a link to the homepage / google search box / Edugeek News RSS link / Edugeek forums RSS link / some eduation based RSS links / My account menu. Download from http://edugeek.ourtoolbar.com/ and have a play. All comments and ideas welcome. Could be a good addtition to users of the site?
russdev Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 can you alter search if so could be good to add edugeek search to the bar main website http://www.edugeek.net/index.php?name=Search&search=new where new is search term and forum is http://www.edugeek.net/index.php?name=Forums&file=search&search_keywords=new&mode=results again word new is the search term dont know if can be done but cool so far russ
russdev Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 also a link to latest posts http://www.edugeek.net/index.php?name=Forums&file=search&search_id=newposts that would be good as well also if want here is rss for edugeek conf pages http://www.edugeekconference.net/index.php?option=com_rss&feed=RSS2.0&no_html=1 and rss for wiki as well http://www.russdev.com/edugeek/feed.php keep you busy Russ
Guest Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 All done Search Dropdown menu now has links to search the edugeek site and edugeek forum. News RSS icon now has general news and conference news sections Forum RSS icon already lists latest posts New Wiki RSS icon added What do you think? If there is a feed or link you would like to see let me know
russdev Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 bye the bye two things I get only forums and wiki rss feed and no news or edugeek conference news... Seems to be problem with font as well see attached pic. Russ
russdev Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Also my gallery links to your gallery sysman if cant be done then if want will look into coding script that whan ran will redirect you to current logged in persons gallery. Russ
Ric_ Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 @Sysman: The whole 'My Account' button links to your section of the site. The font also looks a little knackered on my system. Otherwise it's rather nice though Cheers!
Guest Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 hehe D'oh Will take alook later, many thanks for the feedback.
russdev Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 yes under my public profile need to remove &profile=265 from url rest of it seems fine for me russ
Guest Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Right made the changes to My Public Profile and had to remove the link to My Gallery. There is an issue with FF with RSS icons with more then 1 feed in them. See http://forum.effectivebrand.net/index.php?topic=1524.0 Should be working under IE though - see attached image.
MkII Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Wonderful stuff! Funny things happening in IE7 - the news dropdowns won't display.
Guest Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Hopfully the its the same reason as firefox and will be sorted soon. If not I'll just add single RSS feeds to edugeek only feeds until its fixed.
Guest Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 A note for people who have installed the toolbar and found they have Weather + Email Notification buttons they don't want. Download the attached file and copy to the edugeek toolbar program folder. Default location c:\program files\edugeek Now working with IE 7 beta 3
