One of the best ways a company can prepare for future developments in technology is through the use of patch panels. These allow you to connect a huge variety of devices through the panel, before the panel itself is linked to the server.

This means that there is only one connection between the server and the panel, and the server is incredibly simple and easy to detach and isolate. This would be helpful if the need ever arose to change, repair, replace or upgrade the hardware, as only one cable needs to be detached, rather than a cable for every single device that is connected to the server.
