Soda blasting and media blasting is a process in which a material is applied to a surface using compressed air. In the late 1980′s, soda blasting was used to help restore the Statue of Liberty. There are a large variety of media blasting applications. The media not only affects the finish, but also has to meet other requirements, such as hardness, dust control,and in some cases, food safety guidelines.

Some methods of media blasting can produce large quantities of dust and are therefore a health and safety risk. At SRP Environmental, we use methods of blasting that produce little to no dust and therefore there is no risk of hazardous materials being blasting media ingested during or after the blasting process has been completed. In using a soft abrasive, we also protect the underlying materials and substrates. Over time, residues from manufacturing and everyday use can accumulate on surfaces causing health risks and unsafe environments. Blasting can clean and maintain surfaces and restore a safe, healthy work environment.
