Computer Tower Question!

I am helping out a friend who has a -- Alienware area51 tower. It had Windows XP on it And I am trying to put Windows7 on it but for some reason this unit does not want to be friendly to me on this. This is my most diffecult unit I have ever worked on.

Here is what I am working with does anyone have any ideas so I can get this person up and running.

alienware area51 big tower

4 gigs of ram

intel D975xBx motherboard rev 304

core 2 duo 1.86ghz e6300

it was set up as an raid but I have never worked with raid and my friend just wants his tower to be like other desktop towers. He does not play games anymore but this unit is still a great unit and really does not need to go get a new pc.

Are there any settings on the motherboard that I need to change. It does support 4 sata drives.

Help!!!!!!!

Upgrade the BIOS and ask questions in the forum next time rather than the blogs area.

Yes the forum is the best place for questions more people will read it.

I recon the problem is to do with the Raid. If you don't want to use raid at all you need to go into the raid BIOS on boot up (usually CONTRL & M when it boots) and delete the raid array. BE AWARE THAT THIS WILL DELETE ALL DATA ON THE RAID ARRAY SO IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WHAT ON THERE DONT DO IT!!!!!

Then you need to go into the bios and set the Motherboard Raid setup from RAID back to normal. This way you get up to 4 seperate normal hard drives rather than a RAID array. Windows 7 should install on that no problem.
