AXE's MIT AppInventor Launcher - Updated

AXE's MIT AppInventor Launcher.

- New version, much more configurable.

It's available to download from:

http://rnfxportal.com/MIT_App_Inventor_V2_Launcher.zip

Try it out. Suggestions welcome.

Main benefits:

- Launcher with two big buttons, 'Open Website' and 'Run Emulator'

- No command prompts.

- One window for the emulator, all extras are hidden.

- Config is reset each time. No pin codes, wallpapers, deleted shortcuts, etc.

- Included in the package is a client app update tool for the emulator, which can be used to update the package when the android client app updates.

Common issues:

- Users need write access to the \Working Folder. This defaults to Program Files\AppInventor\Working.

- AppInventor runs a local web service on 127.0.0.1, this can sometimes be blocked by firewall or proxy config.

New:

There are many config options in [RunEmulator.settings.xml].

You can now...

Change the launcher mode: device\emulator

Change the destination URL when clicking the 'Connect to Website' button.

Change the browser used to open the URL.

Override the check for supported browsers.

Specify the path to the template [Appinventor-emulator-data] file. This allows for a central update source. Customised layouts etc.

Specify the emulators working folder. This is where the emulator reads\writes data when running. Users will need write access to this folder.

Specify the path to the folder where the users SD card image will be stored. Users will need write access to this folder.

Use a template for the users SD card image. For course resources etc.

Setting for delete and recreate the users SD card image when emulator starts.

Set the proxy server address in the emulator.

Change the timezone in the emulator.

Great package :-) did have to create the shortcut to the RunEmulator.exe and update the companion app on each machine but so much easier than the Official Installer.

Hi

The Companion app disappears when running the emulator using the tool. If I run the emulator with the aiStarter it is there.

ANy Ideas how to resolve this we are on Windows 7 64bit

Regards
