Anyone seen user profiles setup like this? .vhdx

Hi All

 

So I get how to create mandatory profiles, roaming, Redirected and local profiles. I tend to go with the option on using a redirected profile and mandatory for students.

 

But my new place of work has all user profiles setup like this

 

Looks alien to me, I've looked in Group Policy and in AD to see if I can make any sense on how these profiles get created and what happens but there's nothing in there? I'm just trying to understand how the system generates these in this particular location without being told to do so in AD or GP?

Yes, only for RDS. UPDs are configured when you first set up the RDS server.

Seems weird they have something completely different for desktop computers, hey, MS, talk to MS.

Apologies, I'm not sure if it is just for RDS, I was assuming this was the case.

Looks to me like Microsoft’s latest way to have portable profiles using there “FSLogix” technology.

Yeah, seems to be used a lot in the Azure hosted Virtual Windows 10 that they want people to use instead of RDS.

 

Seems like their ideal future is you buy your Microsoft Android phone, wirelessly connect to a kb/mouse/screen where you are, and the internet, and you have a desktop computer.
