Search Textbooks, Medical Journals, Etc: Google Scholar

    Link: Google Scholar

    What is Google Scholar?

Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature. From one place, you can search across many disciplines and sources: articles, theses, books, abstracts and court opinions, from academic publishers, professional societies, online repositories, universities and other web sites. Google Scholar helps you find relevant work across the world of scholarly research.

    Features of Google Scholar

Search diverse sources from one convenient place Find articles, theses, books, abstracts or court opinions Locate the complete document through your library or on the web Learn about key scholarly literature in any area of research
Google Scholar has an additional feature which is not available elsewhere in Google.

Google Scholar added the option to get email alerts when new articles related to your interests are published.
I will be trailing this [introducing it to Staff who are receptive to these ideas] later this week.

Google Scholar is currently in Beta.

Google scholar has been around for a while now - great site that got me through my dissertation

Just wish I still had an Athens login so I could read some of the journal articles

Me too it was a God send. Like the idea of an email alert system.
