Outlook Client Issues following Exchange 2010 Rollup 8

    Hi,

Update Rollup 8 For Exchange 2010 SP3 (KB2986475) was applied to our Exchange server last night.

All appears to be fine, but users are having all kind of trouble using the Outlook Client to connect to their mailboxes.

Randomly they can't view certain folders (Inbox/Sent Items). Can no longer save to their Calendars. Errors relating to permissions and Outlook notifications?!?!?!?!

This is ONLY when using the Outlook Client - webmail works fine.

There are also no issues when running Outlook in safe mode.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks

    David

    Hi David

I have experienced exactly the same issues and have rolled back the update. I could see in the RPC Client Access log on the CAS server the following error
"[IndexOutOfRangeException] Index was outside the bounds of the array."
From a quick search I found this KB Event ID 4999 is logged on an Exchange Server 2010 Client Access server (CAS)
Since the roll back the error is no longer present in the logs.

    Thanks
    Noel

Yep, just popped back on to update with the same info...

Rollup 8 appears to have broken Outlook client access. Un-installing the update did the trick for me - that was a fun few hours for a Wednesday morning

Microsoft pulls Exchange 2010 update « ZDNet

Microsoft has withdrawn an update released yesterday for Microsoft Exchange 2010.

The update is the Exchange Server 2010 SP3 Update Rollup 8, one of several Exchange Server update packages released yesterday. There were also update packs for Exchange Server 2007 and 2013, as well as language packs for Exchange Server 2013 Unified Messaging.

Now Microsoft says that a problem in the update affects the ability of Outlook to connect to Exchange. It has been removed from the Download Center and other channels until a fixed version is available. Microsoft recommends that customers who have already deployed the update perform a rollback on it. The rollback is the only action necessary in order to restore any lost connectivity from Outlook.
