  1. Hey, did the fix in the link work? It would be interesting to know. Having spoken to a few people the moviemaker shortcut sounds ingenious!
  2. Gov should look at the GreenHive for LG Netmonitor which is correctly licensed, neat and tidy and is ideal for a primary school ICT suite; this comes with it's own desktop and classroom management software too and is backed by 3 brands, VeryPC, Microsoft, and LG. Perhaps Intalect can offer this too?
  3. Hey SPC, are you looking to create 3 independent O/S sessions from 1 PC, or just to have 1 PC with 1 O/S and 3 monitors? The answer to this opens up a world of cool solutions.
  4. The EnergyStar desktop list which you can download from their site shows that the VeryPCs in lab conditions are the most energy efficient PCs in idle, under load over total estimated consumption. What VeryPC do though is to reduce the impact on people and the environment of building PCs, using them and then disposing of them. No other manufacturer can come close to this. The VeryPC range is the only Energy Savings Trust recommended PC too. In education the lack pof toxins like BFRs, PVCs and Halogens can only be a good thing too, no?
  5. Terry, have you examined using a Hybrid VDI?
  6. Hi Firefox, what school are you from? I've found a KB article here that could help Using SoftXpand Xpress Application Runner to run applications I am aware that you will have to contact the author of Sandboxie in Israel to purchase Sandbox licenses if you go down that route. Try the link attached and if that doesn't work I'd go to the VAR you bought your SoftXpand from.
  7. Terry, Another spanner in the works for you to play with.... System requirements Looks like SoftXpand, with the same licensing conundrum; feedback from the guys who pointed it out to me suggest it's a great user interface, dead easy to assign workstations and has load balancing. However this is the first I've heard of them. Are you familiar with them? Cheers, Col
  8. Hi Plexer. It depends on the applications you'd want to run. If it's normal file, print, internet, nothing too 3D, I'd be tempted to go for the X series as it's cheaper, or even the U series. U series is USB which means you don't have to add a PCI card to the host PC like the X series, and handles multimedia pretty well. It's cheaper than the L series and will work with 64 bit O/Ss by the end of the month. I know a couple of VARs who sell NComputing into schools who would be able to provide you with some school contacts.
