I am looking for something that to be honest i'm not too sure exists... Can i get some advice on it anyway and if any of you have a solution. Looking to connect up a fixed workstation with video/audio to a projector with speakers but want a splitter so i'm able to allow members of staff to connect themselves up to the splitter and with a push of a button it switches to the laptop outputs and vice-versa. Sorry for my MSPAINT skills it was a rushed job http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/421d3d7c40.gif

Back onto the subject of laptops. Where can i see the spec of one of these R700 and i would like my own dedicated graphics. maybe an 8 series geforce

Right it's that time of the year and i'm looking to buy myself a laptop. Ideally I'd want something which i can use in the office on a domain while i work (Either XP pro or vista ultimate) I would also need it for when i travel to LAN events for my gaming addiction. I tend to play games using the half life 2 engine so i need something with a bit of power which isn't going to lag like a bitch. Looking to spend £500.00 tops if i can. Alienwares are a little out of my budget considering i have a pc at home for my usual gaming.

Preventing File Extensions through GPO
flexyjerkov replied to flexyjerkov's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
Success! Had a few youngsters come down to the office today... Them: "Mr IT man... We got firefox portable on our USB sticks and its stopped working" Me: "and?" Them: "Can you allow us to use it as IE7 is horrible and we don't like microsoft" Me: "Nothing wrong with IE7 and it even supports tabbed browsing so get used to it" Them: "But you are using firefox" Me: "I don't like IE7 its too slow" Kids look confused and walk off in a huff and talk over ways to get around it. (which they wont do but ill let them try for the fun of it) Thanks for all the help in getting this damn policy working -

Preventing File Extensions through GPO
flexyjerkov replied to flexyjerkov's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
Right, i've managed to get a policy working to lock down the users my documents and prevent file access. Next is them blasted USB Sticks. User Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Software Restriction Policies > Additional Rules Create new path to: %HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders\Personal%* Set to disallowed. Then anything in: User Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Software Restriction Policies > Designated File Types will be disabled. -
Preventing File Extensions through GPO
flexyjerkov replied to flexyjerkov's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
what we are looking at doing is restricting specific files from a specific drive as we could quite easily block all exe though we would get ourselves into a lot of problems. -
Need help with preventing students from running specific file extensions from either USB Drives or there own user area. Would ideally like to be able to achieve this through GPO if possible. Can Anyone help?

SWGfL Internet connections
flexyjerkov replied to sdc's topic in South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL)
Think it maybe because its unfair to have one rule for one school and another for another school. For us we've not had a problem with the removal of unfiltered as we had an idea it was coming once we found out about staffproxy. MicrodigitUK... I was probably one of them who kept getting through your security, Well thats if you were there 6 years ago. -
SWGfL Internet connections
flexyjerkov replied to sdc's topic in South West Grid for Learning (SWGfL)
There is a new proxy server which can be used. It's the same as unfiltered but purely for wsus, sophos etc... but again still works as a unfiltered. If you give swgfl a call i'm sure they'll give you it. Feel free to PM me and ill pass it on. -
We upgraded our network last year and used to rely on the likes of ranger etc... We are now managing everything through Active Directory without the use of any third party software and all I can say is... If you get the chance then do it. Can be confusing at first if you've never done it but it does make sense.

Righty... I've tried google and had no luck so have thought to try on here. Is it possible to force users to login to the ISA proxy server when trying to access the internet and is there any easy way to monitor user activity though logs? Having the issues just recently with excessive amount of proxy bypassing though certain websites and need to find out who is doing it. Thanks

I am trying to get a user configuration policy to restrict pupils from accessing the run button. I have set it all up using the administrative templates and made sure that the user is in the same organizational unit as the policy but when i log on as a user within the organizational unit it does not seem to apply the policy. Any ideas if I'm doing something wrong here as i got no idea... Thanks

Why not just do something simple like put loads of loops in the network to bring it to a stand still or set the server to shutdown every hour or so.

Drivers for the USB device dont seem to install when MSI is installed and i'm constantly recieving errors when starting TurningPoint. What software does everyone recomend for making your own MSI's? Currently using WinInstall Thanks
