Darylrese Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Morning, We need to give a web shortcut to all users who dont have redirected desktops or program sets. What would be the best way of doing this? Our staff have roaming profiles and can typically pin / unpin whatever they like to start menu's / desktops. The shortcut points to an internal URL to retreive spam email, so it would be great if we could somehow get the shortcut into outlook 2010 but failing that the desktop would be fine too. Any ideas?
sonofsanta Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Group Policy Preferences, set to Create the file in the roaming desktop location (using environment variables as appropriate e.g. %userprofile%\Desktop), Run in Logged On User Context to sidestep any security shenanigans. Or use IE GPOs to add the favourite to the browser - Policies > Windows Settings > Internet Explorer Maintenance
Darylrese Posted February 4, 2013 Author Posted February 4, 2013 cheers, i actually found USER CONFIGURATION > PREFERENCES > WINDOWS SETTINGS > SHORTCUTS seems to have worked fine after a gpupdate /force
sonofsanta Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 That's handy, never knew about that. But we have redirected desktops and start menus so never needed to, I suppose!
