bigkev38 Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 when using roaming profiles my users get desktop icons that they have created + whatever icons are in the all users folder. I want them to only see the icons that they create and not the ones in all users. I have both win7 and winXP machines and need a solution for both (perhaps a GPO or logon script), so wherever they log on they only see their own icons regardless of what is already on the local machine. Thank you
Brpilot99 Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Could you make a little batch file that deletes all files in the all users folder on logon?
bigkev38 Posted January 17, 2013 Author Posted January 17, 2013 Thank you for your reply.... I could yes, but this would not be an ideal solution as every time the user logged on somewhere else the All Users desktop folder would be emptied. When an admin logged on to that same machine later the desktop would be empty. I would rather find a solution that prevents them from seeing the all users icons without deleting them all from every computer in school that they logged on to.
Brpilot99 Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Yes I understand !! We simply created an admin desktop and deployed it on logon ... As all user desktops are managed by the users GPO we felt that there should be no local desktop icons attall ... If I'm deploying a program using its MSI script I edit it using Orca and take out the shortcut line ... The program then gets installed but without a shortcut. I can then add the shortcut to the users desktops ... Including the administrators desktop if needed ...
vikpaw Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 What happens if you deny access to that folder for the lay users?
