Smartcard or Magnetic Card registration

Morning all,

 

Does anyone here use a smartcard or magnetic card registration system with SIMS? We're looking at using something like this for registering sixth form attendance and i'd really appreciate any feedback on systems currently in use.

 

The only suppliers i have come across so far is EasyTrace and i'm currently working on a specification for the system to get a price for it.

We use NEDAP PerAbXS... a much better system than EasyTrace IMHO. The system uses proximity cards and can be extended to other areas (e.g. access control, cashless, locker management and more).

we preferred Easytrace because the system uses Magnetic Stripe, Mifare Proximity Smart Cards or Biometric for the student identification and the suite extends to access control, registration, cashless catering, locker control, follow me print control, photocopier control, active directory synchronisation and they have new modules coming through which include a remote movement management solution. Key selling points for us were

EasyTrace is British and run & controlled from Basingstoke

 

The whole suite of solutions is written by them and totally integrated through the SQL central software called Infinity

 

They don’t subcontract anything. Their own engineers do all the onsite work.

 

They have an installed base of over 170 clients
