Does anyone know if there is an INTEGER function which can be applied to a marksheet in SIMS? I have some percentages which I want to change into whole numbers out of 10 - so 72% becomes 7 and88% becomes 9. I can do this easily in EXCEL but want my SIMS marksheet to do it with a calculated column. Does anyone know if this is possible.

Thanks

There is but being SIMS you have to do it the roundabout way.

1) Set up a new Aspect. In this example I will call it EN-LEVEL. Make sure it is a grade aspect with a grade set consisting of 1-10 (you might need to create the grade set if you haven't already got one). Do not use Marks or Marks-Decimal as a shortcut, it must be a grade.

2) Create a new column and choose Data Entry Using Formula.

3) Set up a Marks to Grade column and tell it to use the aspect EN-LEVEL.

4) Enter the criteria for the rounding. Example:

Mark - Integer

95 - 10

85 - 9

75 - 8

65 - 7

55 - 6

45 - 5

35 - 4

25 - 3

15 - 2

5 - 1

0 - 0

In this example, 75 would round up to a grade of 8 whilst 84 would round down to a grade of 8.

Also remember to tick Read Only to stop staff from altering the contents of the field and tick "Calculate formula automatically" in the template screen. Otherwise staff will either complain that the formula "doesn't work" or amend the formula to what they think is correct then complain the sheet overwrites their amendment.
