TronXP Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Is it fairly straight forward in changing the Sims server IP address, or does it mess things up?
deano Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Is it fairly straight forward in changing the Sims server IP address, or does it mess things up? Generally this should not be an issue unless you refer to the servers IP address instead of its net bios name. Check and confirm the address used in your connect.INI file. You may need to check anything such as firewalls, av, backup etc. But generally most things will refer to the NetBIOS name. Just make sure you clear your DNS cache before testing your change 1
vikpaw Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 Also, if you have local connect.ini files you'll need to check them all. Check the document management setup too, sometimes people put ip addresses in there. At any rate even if it's the netbios name, you'll want to go into the config screen and ping the server to make sure it works.
