Find a previous Outlook .pst file

I'm trying to restore the contacts and emails from Outlook 2007 on a machine that died. I have the drive running on a different computer but I had to reinstall Office 2007 to get it to run. Is there a way to get it to find and use the old data?

Can't you just get the file through the local drive?

 

Normally it's under C:\Users\"name"\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook then there's an .ost file in there.

 

If that's the one you mean?

Thanks Steve. It was the .pst file not .ost but I'm using Outlook 2010 so maybe there was a change.

Ah, think it normally depends if you use exchange or not. Think .pst is more local accounts (for hotmail/easymail etc), OST is sync'd by exchange but may be wrong

Easiest way I've found to do this is to fire up Outlook, go through the wizard but don't configure email, at which point it will create a new blank PST file at the location Steve mentions, then quit Outlook, and overwrite the PST file with the preserved one. When you start Outlook again all your stuff should be there.
