Ultimate to Enterprise?

My office PC has Win 7 Ultimate installed and I was looking at putting Windows 8 Enterprise on it but it seems that there is no upgrade path to do this, but there is an upgrade path to go from Windows 7 Enterprise to Windows 8 Enterprise.

 

So the question is this, is it possible to upgrade a Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 7 Enterprise from which I could then upgrade to Windows 8 Enterprise?

 

We have all the MVL etc. Google Foo is letting me down today. I know I can rebuild from scratch but am trying to avoid this if possible.

I don't think so, ultimate/enterprise tend to be 'top of the tree' in what I understand from the bottom table on - Windows 7 Upgrade Paths

Arnt enterprise and ultimate identical except one is vlk and one is oem/retail making changing pointless?

 

On win 7 i managed to upgrade pro to enterprise roughly speaking changed some reg key and did an upgrade install might work

Aka no it's not possible Windows 7 ulimate doesn't count as a high enough version to upgrade to Windows 8 enterprise. It's only pro/enterprise to enterprise.

 

(Or I may have misread, and ignore me! )

I think it's this one...

 

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion]
"EditionID"="[color="#FF0000"]Ultimate[/color]"
"ProductName"="[color="#FF0000"]Windows 7 Ultimate[/color]"

 

Change EditionID to Enterprise and ProductName to Enterprise and it should work.
