bwestlake Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Hi all, Should it matter if i intall server 2008 r2 onto a consumer grade ssd, the server will run hyper-v in a home test enviroment only the host os would go on the ssd and then virtual machines on a seprate drive
FN-GM Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Yer its at home and stuff it should work just fine.
Arthur Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 That's fine, although I have one SSD for my OS and another SSD for VMs. Running VMs from an SSD is so much nicer than a HDD.
bwestlake Posted November 9, 2012 Author Posted November 9, 2012 if it goes to plan may have to look into getting a second drive, currently the spair ssd i have is only 60gb, i may be upgrading the raptordrive (10,000rpm) in my gaming pc so may put that into the hyper-v host for vm os' then vm data on a standard sata drive
