synaesthesia Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Easy MSI deploy, went like a dream. However default save location is network! Is there a way to force it to use the users' home drive?
jinnantonnixx Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 The default behaviour for the MSI is to load and save to 'My Documents'. Is it not doing this? Can you redirect My Docs to the students' areas?
synaesthesia Posted November 9, 2012 Author Posted November 9, 2012 (edited) That's exactly how our network is set up. Regardless, the MSI is trying to save to "\\XXX-SR-001\" and listing the contents (much of which can't be locked down and shouldn't need to be!) Just trying a registry hack for it now. Not amused. Edit: Reghack worked. No idea why it decided the network root would be suitable! Edited November 9, 2012 by synaesthesia
jinnantonnixx Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Hmmm, probably a stupid assumption on the part of the software. Java does a similar thing - to find the user's area, it assumes that it's on the same drive as the user's desktop(!!!!). So to find the user folder, it traverses "%userprofile%\desktop > up a level", which is wrong if you redirect user desktops.
synaesthesia Posted November 9, 2012 Author Posted November 9, 2012 Lovely Don't recall having this issue with Sketchup 7 either. Ah well, it's working now
