Move the contents of *folder* to the new location

I'm having one of those paranoid moments so just want to double-check this :)

I'm making new GPOs for our Windows 7 office machines, want to start afresh with clean folders for all users. I've got new folder redirection paths and set the old home area as an archive drive letter so users can access their old files. Under Settings of the GPO the Move the contents of *folder* to the new location is usually ticked but I've been disabling it as there's nothing local I want copied to the new network folders.

Didn't really think much of it when creating the policy but for some reason I'm doing a double-take on it now...

I disable 'Move contents to the new location' for all our user GPOs for folder redirection. No issues for us. Speeds up things a little as it doesn't spend ages copying files from the network drive, default user profile etc, it just changes the pointer in User Shell Folders.

It'll still make new Documents, Pictures folders etc which are empty in the new location.

Test it for a dummy user first, just to put your mind at rest.

Looks nice your plan, hope it works out.
