teklogic Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Hi, A few weeks ago we had a SAN failure, I have managed to recover nearly all the services / servers from backups etc. However I am missing a Exchange server, I was planning to remove this server but didnt get a chance. Now to the problem, I need to find a disk of Exchange 2010 with sp2, or a method of extracting the service pack into the installer. I have tried the include rollup command and placed the sp2.exe into the update folder with no luck. Does anybody know where I can get my hands on the disk or import the sp into the disk. Thanks in advance Craig
sukh Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Use the same version as the server youre trying to recover. So if it was SP1/SP2 download that, then put on the relevant UR you had. Download: Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 SP2 - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details
teklogic Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 Hi, I understand that bit. The problem I am having is that I need a fresh install running the command setup.exe /RecoverServer (that is not the exact command but I forget). I am under the impression I need the exchange 2010 with sp2 integrated for this to work.
Ergo Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 @teklogic if you want to include the update in the folder as you described above I think you have to extract the SP2.exe out to a temp folder and then put the .MSP files into the Update folder. HTH. Regards, David Irwin
sukh Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I dont understand, if the crashed server had sp2 then why not just use that to recover....download from ms website.
apeman Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I dont understand the issue here either if you want to find your exact build number use ADSIedit to look at the exchange servers computer object in AD and one of the fields should have the build number in it Then take a look at this link below and i will tell you your exact version Exchange Server Build Numbers and Release Dates: Exchange 2010 Help
sukh Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 From what I remember, you can place the UR for a new deployment but not when recovering a server.
