Exchange 2010 - Automatically Change Email Address When Account is Renamed

Hi,

 

Is there a way in Exchange so when an account is renamed Exchange automatically assigns the user a new email address based on the address policy?

errr, assuming the 'automatically update email address based on email address policy' is checked in the user properties then it should do it

 

I believe it's the default

actually i tell a lie, its adding the new address but not making the new one the primary one. Its using the old one as the primary

Yep Immediately. The accounts where renamed about a week ago.

Whats the policy based on? the username, first name, last name, displayname etc are all showing the correct thing?

Its - all displays fine. I ran through the email address policy again and reapplied it and it fixed it. But why did i have to do it manually?

Also Alias hasnt updated. Is that another AD attribute?

if you have a date the new address yourself manually then you would have to make it primary yourself if exchange has stamped it then whatever is set in the eap will be the primary.
