SCCM2007 and MDT2010

We have been using SCCM2007 for a couple of years now. We have been using it for building, capturing and deploying images. We have also been using it for deploying software and updates.

 

I am just starting to read about MDT. We have never used MDT and to be honest, we know nothing about MDT. Can someone point me to a spot that explains what MDT is abotu and what we could gain from it? Or maybe explain it here unless it has been done already.
