RabbieBurns Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Ive got an old 98 box that runs a 16bit dos app, that outputs directly to a parallel port printer. I want to virtualize this 98 machine, however I am unsure how to emulate the parallel printer output. There is no option within the app to set printer, it just spews out directly to ltp1. Is there any way to emulate an lpt port in windows 98 under hyperv / esx?
SYNACK Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 I know that the older VMware stuff, Virtual PC, VirtualBox and the older VMware Windows Hypervisor. I think ESX may do it but they moved away from direct access of local hardware when live migration etc. came around. If nothing else, you should be able to use a parrellel port card with a VT-d enabled host to pipe through a raw printer port.
