Is there a way I can set active x in internet explorer to be active when users log on? Have a request from up top to set it for all staff logins so they all have their own profile. Its so tbey can do their class registrations on line through ericom and the poor dears may get confused if it asks them to acti ate it when the log on!

You mean to avoid the old yellow "Allow this ActiveX control" bar in IE? Just add the site to the Trusted zone (and have the Trusted zone set to allow ActiveX controls) in the staff GPO.

Right next question, where do I add the trusted site in GPO and which section should I allow the download of activex, see it in both user and computer config sections.

You'll want to be in the user section of a GPO that applies only to staff users. Sites are added to zones in User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer > Internet Control Panel > Security Page > Site to Zone Assignment List. Add the domains you want to the list with a value of "2" to specify the Trusted Sites Zone.

The policy to always allow ActiveX controls in the Trusted zone is in:

User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer > Internet Control Panel > Security Page > Trusted Sites Zone > Download signed ActiveX controls

You may also need to enable:

User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer > Internet Control Panel > Security Page > Trusted Sites Zone > Download unsigned ActiveX controls
