HMCTech Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Had vCenter running for over two years now and suddenly in the past week it has decided the fail every hour or so because it fills the database up to its alloted size. I run a script that deletes all data from two days onwards and also one that deletes all task and event logs. This takes the database back u to 89% free but within 5 - 10 minutes its back up to 100% full on the VIM_VCDB database (not the logs, the logs are about 50mb). We haven't changed anything and we can't figure out how to see what is going on in the backend to see why so much data is being written if anyone knows how to see this from vSphere.
glennda Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 We had that on a clients site last week. Open up the VShere client and see if there are lots of events happening - we had Map Disk region constantly appear here. Do you use any replication such as Veeam?
HMCTech Posted July 3, 2012 Author Posted July 3, 2012 I would say in 24 hours there are about 30 tasks and events in total and the database has about 15% left and it will be down to bout 5% in the next couple of hours before I run the scripts manually.
