RyanHo Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Hello all, I am having a slight bit of trouble with the following bar where students are getting around our blocking of games by using "Open with..." Is there a way I can remove the bar I have boxed in red (I have looked into this and it seems to be park of Aero) or remove part of the bar "Open with..." Thanks in advance for any help!

Is there a way I can remove the bar I have boxed in red (I have looked into this and it seems to be park of Aero) or remove part of the bar "Open with..." Thanks in advance for any help! How would using open with bypass game blocks? If you're blocking exes anyway, or is it SWF etc? And even if you remove the bar, won't it still show in context menu, or are you blocking all of that anyway? Thanks, Steve
RyanHo Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 All students are blocked from using Right-Click. The problem is that the option still exists on the bar. At current all .swf files are being set to default open with notepad to prevent them playing games, this doesn't effect the coursework as those rooms have the correct software installed and they can still fulfil all the requirements for Pass/Merit/Distinction.
Steve21 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 You should be able to manually remove open with lists in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\ But think that would still leave the "choose default" etc, Would need to test it Steve 1

There is another registry key under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.swf\OpenWithList called "IExploere.exe" which we deleted and it has stopped them opening it with IE. It only leaves the default program. Cheers for the assist.
