Annoying VERY annoying Video links temporary folder Internet Explorer

Does anybody know how I can hack the registry to stop video links from downloading to a temporary folder before playing?

It takes minutes sometimes to download a 5 gig HD video from a link on my SharePoint Site?

 

Firefox just opens it up in the PC default Video player no fuss... why can't Internet Explorer do the same?

 

Anybody know a workaround (without ditching IE)

IE unfortunately cannot be ditched due to compatibility issues with SharePoint , and some other of our internal systems.

You setting it up to stream, or just literal link to file? If literal link, get some streaming script and use that?

That's it!!

 

Now I just need to figure out how to change the file assosiations from VLC to Media player via group policy..

 

Otherwise it's a lengthly process of logging into every single pc and changing it!

I have found the HKEY Current USER openwithlist... but I rather want to apply on computer startup.. is there a PC specific key for this? or just have to apply to each user on login?
