[wds] Just Starting WDS & MDT

Hi,

 

I'm going to have a look at deploying windows 7 with WDS & MDT. Currently we use Ghostcast on our Server 2003 which I am very familiar with.

 

Can I install MDT and WDS on Server 2003 or are there new/better versions for 2008? I can't seem to find any information on the web.

 

Also can I create an image as I would normally do with a capture it just like Ghost?

yes as long as server 03 is sp2 you have wds but its not as good as the 08r2 version you cant add drivers or multicast

 

creating images yes you can either setup as you would for ghost+capture or deploy vanilla images

Would recommend using the Server 2008 versions if possible, they are greatly improved

This is for Windows 7 and MDT 2010, is a similar process for Windows XP though.

its a bit basic (and covers 2010 not 2012) but it should at least get you pointed in the right direction. Please bear in mind i tend to write these things for me so dont expect a polihed publishable quality document
