enjay Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Our projectors are set up to turn off if they don't have a signal for 20 minutes, or however long. Since moving to Windows 7, this seems to have stopped working, and they sit on a blue "no input" screen for ever. Any ideas why this happens, or how to stop it?
bensheehan Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I'd be suprised if Windows 7 was the cause, has nothing to do with sleep time on projectors?
enjay Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 Like you, I'd be surprised if Win7 is the cause, however it worked last year and doesn't this year, and Win7 is the only thing which has changed; the timers on the projectors are all still set to turn off after x minutes. Could the graphics adapter under Win7 be refreshing itself to see if there is a signal yet, and that somehow passes to the projector as activity??
bensheehan Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Could be that the vga is still active when the pc is off I guess, if you disconnect the vga does the projector go to sleep after 20 mins? If so, sounds like it could be the vga port giving an "i'm alive" signal to the projector..weird one though!
enjay Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 if you disconnect the vga does the projector go to sleep after 20 mins? You know, I didn't think to try that! Will give that a go after school...
Marc-Engineer Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 You know, I didn't think to try that! Will give that a go after school... Yes i agree with that Win7 can be strange with screen savers and monitor blanking so i would think its keeping it alive. Marc Projector Engineer
enjay Posted May 15, 2012 Author Posted May 15, 2012 Definitely something Windows 7 related. If the PC is unplugged, the projector powers off; if the PC is plugged in and the sleep time is set to 1 minute, it turns off, but if the sleep time is extended to 10 minutes, then it stays on indefinitely. I haven't yet gone through trying the times in between 1 and 10 minutes to see where the cut-off point is (nor do I particularly want to!). Any offers what could be causing this?
