Liam Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Anyone else had any issues with printer drivers issues in win 7. Some drivers are rather large admittedly, but i have found that this is not the issues sophos on access scanning is. I have tried everything, adding exclusions to folders etc but nothing speeds up the process only disabling on access. Any help would be much appreciated.
themightymrp Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 What kind of issues are you having exactly? If you are using the HP Universal Driver it is incredibly slow on Win 7 machines!
Liam Posted May 10, 2012 Author Posted May 10, 2012 The printer takes about 7 mins to add. The user opens up an application during the time of install and what would you know there are no printers installed. I'm using Kyocera mx drivers. Surprisingly the uni hp one is fine.
themightymrp Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I'm assuming that you are certain that Sophos is the problem? Have you disabled the sophos services and seen whether the speed improves? How are you deploying the printer(s) to the machines? Script, Group Policy Preferences etc?
Liam Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 I have narrowed it down to be a file within c:\windows\system32. If i exclude that it runs fine. I obviously dont want to do this I have tried excluding the obvious like spool and drivers but still the same issue.

Try opening the Print Management snap-in, look under drivers, and bring up the properties for said driver. It should give you a list of every file it uses and where it is located. You can try adding these to the exclusion list.
