Wake On Lan not working on Windows 7

i do believe you have been misinformed!

 

The only things you can do form windows to the BIOS is 1)change date and time 2) updating the ROM.

 

so let me clarify windows can not edit the BIOS or change settings

Sorry to burst your bubble, but we run scripts from within windows that configure our BIOS settings. These include Enabling WOL, Turning TPM on

The batch files run just fine off our Member Server. Wish I'd thought to try that in September!

Spoke too soon - the batch files run fine if executed by double-clicking on them, but not when set as scheduled tasks. Any ideas?

Who is is scheduled to run as, if it is set as a local service then it would not have network access, if it is a propperly credentialed account then have you made sure that it is running with maximum privilages in the task properties?

Sorted now. I've had this issue with scheduled tasks before, with it being very fussy about how it is set up in terms of whether it runs only when logged in, with highest credentials, etc. so I went through each possible permutation until I found one which worked!
