Find my iPhone success

Some little toe-rag pinched my son's iPhone at school this morning and promptly turned it off.

 

Son went on a friend's phone to track it using Find my iPhone and realised it was off. He reported the theft to the school and they rang me... I promptly got the phone's IMEI and SIM blocked.

 

Assembly is straight after lunch in his school and they were all told that if the phone was turned on, Find my iPhone would immediately report it's position whether that was in school or elewhere and the school would have no choice but to get the police involved. (They neglected to mention the blocking would mean Find my iPhone wouldn't work)

 

The phone was 'found' less than hour later on a teacher's desk

 

All son's mates have now installed Find my iPhone on their phones

 

It's not exactly how the app's supposed to work, but that combined with the school putting the frighteners on was clearly very effective on little darling with limited intelligence. IMEI unblocked and waiting for replacement SIM now!

OOOOOH... If it was a teacher, I was going to suggest bustin' some heads.

 

I suppose you could bust some kids heads... But, that may not go over too well.

That happened to TOH.. a little angel from her Y5 class nicked her phone from her desk... we used a very similar strategy i.e. lied about trackability, and when it was anonymously returned they had left a hilariously inept recording on it trying to impersonate/implicate someone else.

 

We initially called and were told it had been blocked etc. but the telco failed to do so...
