RabbieBurns Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 In backup exec 2010 I had a backup job that backed up my 2007 mailserver, and my 2010 mailserver as the one job. When I upgraded to 2012 backup exec, it split this job into 2 seperate jobs. And now the 2007 Mailserver backup job has been failling ever since. Ive been on the phone with Backup Exec support all week, however they have been making small changes at a time and making me run the backup again. Problem is my mailstore is about 200GB and backups take about 14 hours to run which isnt much use when trying to troubleshoot. His latest suggesiton is to reboot the mailserver and try again. Mailserver was rebooted on Saturday and backups have been failling before and after that reboot so I dont see how a reboot will help again. But I will humuour him and reboot it tonight but I dont hold out much hope. So im resorting to this place Error code is E00FEDF and message is The job failed with the following error: A failure occurred reading an object. The job log was not available to be included as part of this notification. Any help much appreciated. Cheers
RabbieBurns Posted March 22, 2012 Author Posted March 22, 2012 looking through the event logs on the exchange server I see this which I dont think Ive seen before: Event Type: Information Event Source: Storage Group Consistency Check Event Category: Database Header Validation Event ID: 200 Date: 22/03/2012 Time: 7:01:40 PM User: N/A Computer: MAILSERVER2 Description: Instance 1: Database headers have been successfully validated. All databases are in a dirty shutdown state. To bring these databases to a clean shutdown state, log generations 1408215 (0x00157cd7) to 1408233 (0x00157ce9) will be required. Im wondering what they mean, and if @sukh might be able to suggest if this is correlating to my backup exec errors?
sukh Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 This could be related. Waht type of backups are you performing? Full? Inc? I would check the DB headers to see if they are clean or not. Instead of re-typing agains I suggest you follow this can let me know how you get along. Dirty shut down state / transaction logs not clearing
RabbieBurns Posted March 23, 2012 Author Posted March 23, 2012 Hi sukh thanks for the quick reply. Does the Eseutil /MH require that the database is dismounted?
RabbieBurns Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 OK I think I have fixed my problem without having to do any edb maintenance. The exchange server also runs Shadow Protect Server edition. These 2 backup softwares have run fine together for many years. Since the upgrade to bexec 2012 however, it seems its shadow protect causing the bexec errors. Disable shadow protect and bexec compltetes its backups fine.
