I am just about to install the hyper-v role onto a 2008r2 server in a small primary. They only have one server and it runs everything (ad, dhcp, dns, sims......) I also understand that this is not recommended by MS, but I know of lots of primary's that are doing this.

The server has 2 nics. Nic 1 is enabled, Nic 2 is disabled.

I was going to enable Nic 2 and while adding the hyper-v role use nic for all the virtual machines but have just read a blog that says if I do this it will cause dns issues and both nics might need to be binded.

Is this the case.

Can someone advice.

Multihoming a ADDS DNS server can cause problems if not handled in the correct way.

If you bind them together as if they were one interface you can still use it for all te services you need.

if its on r2 when you create the virtual network card for card 2 just dont allow the host access to it that way it shouldnt cause any issues
