Sam_Brown Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Afternoon guys, Trying to install Server 2k8 on a sunfire 4500 but don't have the required storage drivers to be able to detect the hard disks during installation. Does anyone know where I could find them or had this trouble before?
PotNoodleTech Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Assuming you have an Oracle support contract on your server you should be able to download the drivers from Oracle website (assuming the 4500 is actually supported by Win2k8, I see no reason why not as it's not _that_ old).
Sam_Brown Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 Only drivers available are for 2k3 and not 2k8 adnd those won't work. I have the originla SUN Driver disk. We have two of the 4500 servers and an old tech got the other one working so it can be done somehow.
PotNoodleTech Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19469-01/820-0407-18/820-0407-18.pdf "InstallingWindows Server 2008 (X4540 Server Only) This chapter describes how to install the Windows Server 2008 operating system directly onto your Sun Fire X4540 server using the Windows Server 2008 media. Note – Windows Server 2008 is not supported on the Sun Fire X4500 server." I guess it's not officially supported. Afraid I have no idea how your previous guy got it working on a server.
