Android wifi problems

I replaced my phone over the holiday with a samsung galaxy and have found that some android versions have some problems with wpa psk encryption with some wifi routers. If you are going to upgrade to 2.3.5 or 2.3.6 you might not be able to use your wifi after the upgrade.

 

I tried the following fixes with both these versions and had no success.

 

Remove battery

Upgrade android version

Try fixed ip address

Try wifi fix download

 

None of them worked. When I was in the phone shop I tried different android phones makes and models with these version and they all appeared to have the same problem so I would guess its an android problem rather than a phone problem. I had to resort to trying a phone with an android 2.2 version which works perfectly. By the way the iphone worked as well with no problems

 

Please be careful when buying a new phone or upgrading the version of android

Have you tried deleteing all your 'saved' wifi information and try again? Solves it every time for me. (Running Cyanogen 7.1 (Android 2.3.7) on HTC Hero) I also occasionally had this issues on running stock 2.1 rom. Seems to just get stuck...

I am going to assume for a moment that you have a Galaxy S and, as a geek, want to make it 'better'... have you tried DarkyROM ( DarkyROM )? Really good ROM which fixed all the problems I used to have with my Galaxy S.

Yes tried that but it did not fix the problem.

 

The man a geeksquad had the most interesting answer. "Get a iphone they just work" lols

They have put me no a galaxy s now with 2.2.1 and that just works yipppeeeee.

 

I am sorry I have not tried darkyrom but will have a look. I would presume that a brand new phone should work without all this hastle.

Unfortunately brand new smartphones have their fair share of bugs too. Some get fixed quicker than others.

The strange thing is the shops and the technical support of the phone companies claim there is no problem even though there are loads of complaints on the internet about the problem but no solutions.

Hi Guys, I heard that there is some limitation with the Wi-Fi and Android Phone. I have the similar kind of problem for my Nexus S when my phone got upgraded to 2.3.6 via OTA. However i was able to solve the problem by changing the below settings in my mode / Wi-Fi router.

 

Have Updated the Wireless channel to 4 and enable Security Mode as “WPA/WPA2-Personal(PSK)" & restart the modem, thatz it. it started working fine.
