Printer installation script for Windows 7 in a domain

Server: Windows 2003 server

Clients: Windows 7 64

All drivers are loaded for printers in the server

 

Has anybody got a printer installation that I can use as logon script in GPO? I had one for XP environment that does not work anymore.

xp one will probably work if point and print is set right and your server has 64 bit drivers on for the printers

 

point and print can only be set on 2008/win7 but if you download the rsat kit and install on a win7 box you can edit the policy

 

computer config\admin templates\printers\point and print restrictions

(setting i ususally use)

enabled

untick

tick(users can only point and print to machines in their forest)

do not show

It has worked like magic.

Installed RSAT on a Windows 7 Machine. Opened Group Policy Management Editor and did the settings as follows:

Start ->Administrative Tools -> Group Policy Management ->Domains -->mydomain.local -->Default Domain Policy -->Right Click Default Domain Policy -->Edit -->You will get Group Policy Management Editor

 

Computer Configutation -->Policies -->Administrative Template -->Printers -->Point and Print Restrictions -->Enabled.

 

Security Prompts:

When Installing driver for a new connection: Do Not show warning or elevation prompt.

When updating drivers for an existing connection: Do not show warning or elevation prompt

 

Click Apply -->OK

 

User Configuration -->Policies -->Administrative Template -->Control Panel-> Printers -->Point and Print Restrictions -->Enabled.
