Fuzzy Fonts

Hi, I wonder if anybody has seen this problem before. Our head of IT came to us complaining of this problem in Word 2003

When you select the font it appears correctly in the font box and is displayed when you type. Does anybody have any ideas?

is it happening on more than 1 machine?

So far it is only this computer for one user, I logged on as an administrator and did not have this problem.

My gut feeling is a corrupt font cache. With the affected user, look up the filename referenced in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Common\FontBmpCache - it will be something like fbcC181.tmp in the user's %AppData%\Microsoft\Office

 

Nuke the file from orbit, then load up Word and see if the problem remains.
