I am on PVE Kissai - dark side

The server stress tests start today and nearly everyone signed up should get in today or tomorrow!! Wonder if I will actually get to play.... or will it be 100,000 queues and lag lol So who else is getting home quickly to get on?

ZeroHour Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 I am on Kissai Dark Side (PVE) but I doubt that server will be online for the stress test. Other tests involved a fresh batch of server which were only used during the test. 2 weeks ago the stress test meant no one could login really... heres hoping it works this weekend although I am general beta

Ran smooth and apart from the Friday night logging in nightmare it was really good. Now to wait another three weeks for it to launch, glad I pre-ordered ages ago.

Ooooh have I got an opinion on this! POSITIVES: + Full voice acting. + Star Wars theme! + Cover system is interesting. + Death of the MMORPG holy trinity of tank/healer/DPS. NEGATIVES: - Classes are mirrored so technically only 4 exist with subtle changes between factions. - Character maker is limited given how many races are in Star Wars - The entire things smacks of WoW with a space skin on it. I felt like I was playing a WoW alt in a different setting. - Moral choices aren't moral at all and merely another form of currency. - The game utterly failed to engage me during the starter area. This shouldn't be the case for a game which is so anticipated. - Story zones are merely marketing talk for WoW's phasing technology. It was so bad I actually had more fun playing Vanguard again instead of the SWTOR beta Sunday evening and that is a failed MMO! This one will be a lot of split opinions but I don't think anyone with a WoW account can justify spending 4 quid for a game that makes no shame in it's attempts to copy and compete. There isn't really anything new or groundbreaking in it. For me it comes down to what you are looking for. I love WoW, have done for years, but where it lets me down is the setting... I much prefer scifi (and if I'm really picky, post apoc, world gone to hell scifi). So if Bioware can give me WoW with a scifi "skin" then I'm in!

Would love to give it a try Doesnt work on invites sadly but if you register for the beta you should get in the next weekend test. For all those weekend testers, I have heard rumours of another weekend test around the 9th.

rich_tech Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I trialled it over the weekend just gone, spent a couple of hours on it and gave up in the end, cutscenes for quests became quite a frustrating thing for me (WoW player at heart) not a bad game, just not quite enough to hold my interest.

AlfaTech Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 I played last weekend's beta. It was OK, I found it a bit boring at times but managed to persist in getting my character up to level 10. Unfortunately for me it just doesn't warrant a monthly cost of £8.99. That's just madness! How can a game be worth that kind of money in the long-run?!! I just can't afford it, nor the massive amount of time you've gotta put in to make it worth-while/value for money, which is a big shame as I've been looking forward to this game for over a year. *sigh*
