Knowhow 1tb online backup - pcworld - ok to use?

Hi

 

I have seen pcworld do an online backup service (knowhow), you get 1tb for £25 a year. What checks would you do to see if it was ok to use for having an offsite backup of students and teachers work? It is 256 encrypted.

 

It mounts an extra drive (L) on your computer / server. I was thinking of running a backup file to it and then using the service to backup the files. I know it would probably take a while to do but maybe worth a shot for £25. We are currently paying £70 a month for 150gb upload.

 

Any advice or experience is welcomed cheers

No, dont do it. They lost some of mine due to data redundancy checks failing and as such I lost years worth of work

Ouch. Fair enough. Was that personal files or schools?

Personal files as well as some school files

I wouldn't bother simply because it's PC World.

 

PCWs online backup service is actually powered by LiveDrive. From looking at their terms of use, I would say it's a non-starter for schools (section 1.6.3 being one example).
