SYNACK Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Looks like some enterprising people have managed to implement a way to scan for other sources of wireless interference not generated by other wifi stuff such as microwaves and Xbox controllers. With this built in the need for seporate spectrum analysers like the WiSpy would be reduced signifigantly. Software upgrades could produce self-tuning wireless access points, researchers say http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~shravan/imc2011-rayanchu.pdf Wi-Fi Cards Can Now Detect Microwave Ovens - Slashdot
paulfinlay Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 A number of enterprise vendors have already included this functionality, Aruba, Aerohive, Juniper, it's a built in function of the latest atheros chipsets. It's very useful indeed, no more walking around with a handheld spec analyser.
Haptic Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I've been impressed by Aerohives integrated analyser so far, the below makes for quite an interesting read for non 802.11 device interference: Wi-Fi Interference* Mark
