Can the unifi 35 projector be used w/out the smartboard?

Hello, all. Brand new here and I found the forums from a quick search on Google.

 

I'm part of the Milwaukee Makerspace and I have a question that we have not been able to answer ourselves....

 

One of our members does some computer/electronic recycling and we now have 6 or 7 of these unifi 35 projector units without the smartboard.

 

We've been tinkering, trying to get them to run without being connected to the board, but all we can get is the help screen and some basic system information.

 

Having priced the smartboards, they seem a bit out of our reach.

 

Does anyone know of a way to run these projectors without the smartboard attached?

 

Any help is much appreciated.

Do not take my word for gospel on this...

 

I have heard of it being done with a bit of work in some of my network manager meet ups, but have never seen it done, as such I would assume it could be done.

Also I would assume if the connection face plate was configured correctly (IE Sound input, VGA, HDMI, etc was all connected properly and none of the connecting cables are faulty) then you could do it.

 

The trouble is, I would have thought that it will be trying to auto-synchronise all the time. Perhaps if you flashed the firmware with a different projector's firmware (much like a phone can be flashed with a different ROM).
