CatherineMay Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I have been asked whether we can use SIMS to record when a HOY checks a student homework diary. Should I do this in Assesment manager?
GREED Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Depends how you might want to report back on this over the years. If as a check list only, then you could look at setting up a UDF on the pupil record section. If there is more detailed reporting or caclulations or something needed, you would look at AM yes. 1
CatherineMay Posted July 28, 2011 Author Posted July 28, 2011 Thanks Greed, they want a record for every week in a school year.
GREED Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 AM is the option then. Should be relativelty simple to do then. Is this not a really REALLY massive overhead? Just thinking about the task for the HOY!
CatherineMay Posted July 28, 2011 Author Posted July 28, 2011 I am really pleased that they are thinking on the lines of SIMS instead making spreadsheet and asking me to sort the problems later.
GREED Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Oh yes, I always advocate to have it all under one software, and given SIMS has a framework in place already for years, groups etc, might as well take advantage of that... but the process as a whole is going to be massive for the HOY!
vikpaw Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I was thinking AM7 too. Do you use SLG ( i can't remember ), but they are adding a paid add-on service to that to allow you to record setting of homework, and so presumably there is some checking / note functionality built into that.
Sivadam Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 (edited) The link to Homework Record from Class registers in SIMS has been delivered with the Summer Release. In the Autumn release this will also be available via the class link of SLG Registers. I'll be having a look at that in September UAT! If you wanna take part you can still book for it on SupportNet! All I need to do now is somehow get the Sheffield LA MLE/SLG service to adopt the optional webparts either as a whole or for individually for schools that want to opt in! How you could check the staff are checking the pupils sounds a bit problematic though! Maybe I'll raise that one at the meeting! Edited July 28, 2011 by Sivadam
